JOB SUMMARY
With limited supervision from the Project Manager, the HSE Specialist is responsible for implementing and monitoring site-specific health, safety and environmental (HSE) operations and tasks at the assigned job site. The HSE Specialist is the primary contact for employees and supervisors concerning safety-related matters and is responsible for the application of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
At least one of the following:
Current CSP/ASP certification
Bachelor Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field (as determined by the HSE Director) from an accredited educational institution
Associate Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field from an accredited educational institution AND 2 years safety and/or occupational health technical, operations or management experience gained within the last 4 years
Five years of documented experience in safety and/or occupational health technical, operations or management gained within the last seven years
Certification by an independent HSE-related accrediting organization AND at least two years of documented safety and/or occupational health experience gained within the last four years
Training in the Loss Prevention System? required or obtained within 3 months of employment
Able to proficiently speak, read, understand and write English

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Conduct regular inspections, safety audits and hazard assessments of work locations, work groups, projects and individuals at the assigned jobsites
Identify hazards and potential risks and prepare operations staff to do so. Ensure jobsite compliance with DUS and client safety regulations
Advise DUS jobsite managers on HSE-related matters, and provide resources for DUS HSE-related activities
Attend weekly safety meetings at the assigned job sites. Participate regularly in daily safety meetings with various work groups
Identify and develop training resources and facilitate the provision of mandated HSE training for the DUS workforce
Maintain manual and computer database HSE-related records. Prepare and present HSE reports as appropriate for the jobsite managers and appropriate client departments
Communicate incidents, losses, and near-misses to the DUS HSE Director and appropriate jobsite managers within required time frames
Perform incident loss and near-miss investigations; interview involved parties and witnesses; gather required findings and document in multiple media; recommend corrective/preventive actions. Communicate investigation findings to the jobsite managers and the DUS HSE Director
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner
Willingness to perform others duties as assigned
Willingness to work at various locations as required

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The employee will be required to live and work in a remote and confined workspace for extended periods of time and exposure to work assignments consisting of twelve-hour days and able to work day or night shifts as required. The majority of the work is performed in a remote setting with a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee's work requires routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items weighing less than 40 pounds. There is a lack of immediate access to critical medical services as well as urban community services.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
